Recent media reports that Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) , ahead of the gubernatorial election in 2026 have been dismissed by Adeleke as false and misleading.

The governor reiterated his commitment to the People's Democratic Party, or PDP, in a statement released on Friday by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson, and called the defection rumors baseless.

Governor Adeleke emphasized that he is still fully committed to running for re-election on the PDP platform and won't need to form an alliance with any other party to win.

The governor is not in any form of alliance with the ADC or any other political group,” the statement read. "He will run and win under the PDP, as he currently enjoys widespread support from the people of Osun due to his exceptional track record in office," according to the statement. Rasheed also clarified that the PDP in Osun State has already stated its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's 2027 reelection campaign, highlighting the party's internal unity and alignment on national strategy.

He added that Governor Adeleke is concentrating on building on his successes and delivering additional democratic dividends, which have earned him widespread respect throughout the state. Residents of Osun are unwavering in their support for Governor Adeleke.

The public's faith in government has been reestablished as a result of his administration's transformative changes. Rasheed stated, "The people are eager to renew his mandate in 2026.

" In addition, the governor urged PDP members all over the state to intensify their efforts to strengthen the party's structures and prepare for a further overwhelming victory in the upcoming election.
