Dele Momodu resigns from PDP, joins ADC

Chief Dele Momodu, a seasoned journalist, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

He cited the party's alleged takeover by antidemocratic forces. Momodu announced his immediate departure from the PDP in a letter dated July 17, 2025, which was sent to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State.

“My reason is clear and direct,” the letter stated. He added that, “Our party has undeniably been seized by antidemocratic elements, both from within and without, in broad daylight. “It is therefore honorable to relinquish the remains of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly align with the new coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

” Chief Momodu, a former presidential aspirant under the PDP banner and publisher of Ovation International, expressed gratitude to the ward-level party leadership for their unwavering support throughout the years.

His defection to the ADC signifies a significant shift in Edo State’s political landscape and contributes momentum to the ongoing realignments preceding the 2027 general elections.

Momodu had joined the PDP in 2021 and actively engaged in national debates and party affairs. His departure follows a series of resignations by notable figures disenchanted with internal party dynamics.
