Step down If You Can’t Secure Zamfara – ADC Tells Governor Dauda Lawal

Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, has been criticized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for failing to address the state's growing insecurity.

The party said that Lawal has not done enough to protect people's lives and property, and they asked him to step down if he can't find long-term solutions to the bandit attacks that keep coming back.

The call was made on Monday, by the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, during the ADC “Hand Shake Day” event held at Maryam Hall in Gusau, the state capital. Garba expressed deep concern about the bandit attacks that continue to kill, kidnap, and cause people to be displaced in several parts of Zamfara.

He stated that the state's residents have endured enough and deserve real government action. “It is high time that the Governor provided a long-term solution to the state's insecurity. Garba declared, "He should resign otherwise."

The ADC chairman also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “wake up to his responsibility” and address the broader security crisis affecting not only Zamfara but many parts of the country. He advised the state government to consider pursuing peace through dialogue with criminals.

"We urge the government to take decisive action and condemn the incessant attacks on our people. Let them talk to the bandits if that’s what will bring peace,” he added.

Garba further revealed that the party has registered over 75,000 new members in Zamfara, with expectations to reach 100,000 before the 2027 general elections. “God willing, we are ready to rescue the state and Nigeria at large come 2027,” he stated.
