The suspension of Badegi FM's operations in Minna, Niger State, has prompted the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, to call for calm.
This is contained in a statement issued by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, on Saturday in Abuja.
Idris noted the media industry stakeholders' concerns regarding the Niger State Government's recent directive to suspend the FM station 's operations.
The directive, citing allegations of unethical broadcasting and incitement by the station, was reportedly issued by Niger State Governor Umaru Bago on Friday during an expanded state APC caucus meeting in Minna.

The minister acknowledged the concerns, but noted that the National Broadcasting Commission is responsible for suspending broadcasting licenses as required by law. According to the statement, "in light of this, the minister welcomes the decision of the Niger government to formally report the perceived ‘unethical behavior’ by Badegi FM to the NBC.
" Idris urged all parties to remain calm and reassured them that the NBC possessed the mechanisms necessary to resolve the conflict in an equitable and impartial manner.
