Tinubu receives Buhari’s remains in Katsina

 


At the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Airport in Katsina on Tuesday, former President Muhammadu Buhari's ashes were received by President Bola Tinubu. 

According to a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu arrived the airport from Abuja at 1:42 p.m. and inspected a guard of honor before the Nigerian Air Force plane conveying Buhari’s remains landed at 1:51 p.m. Buhari’s body brought out of aircraft in Katsina.

 At the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Airport in Katsina on Tuesday, former President Muhammadu Buhari's ashes were received by President Bola Tinubu.

Photo credit: X | Mohammed Jammal Numerous dignitaries, including former Niger President Issoufou Mahamadou and Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine; Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló; and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, joined Tinubu at the airport. 

“A joint team of military pallbearers comprising nine senior officers laid the casket, draped with the Nigerian flag, on a trolley,” the statement read.

Photo Credit: TVC/ Youtube Screenshot Tinubu and other dignitaries walked behind the trolley as the pallbearers escorted the late president’s body into a waiting military hearse for the one-hour journey to Daura, where funeral prayers and interment are scheduled to take place.

 The former president's entourage has since left for Daura, his hometown, where he will be laid to rest later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
