Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate, has criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for what he characterized as the administration's neglect of the northern part of the country.
Mr. Kwankwaso accused Federal Government of diverting national resources to develop southern Nigeria where the president hails from.
This was discussed at the Kano State Stakeholders' Dialogue on 2025 Constitutional Amendment on Thursday by the former governor of Kano State. Kwankwaso claims that despite the fact that the majority of roads in the northern region remained in poor condition, Tinubu's government continued to allocate lump budgetary allocations for the development of infrastructure in the southern region.
"Let me advise the Federal Government on the distribution of federal resources," he stated. According to the information we have, it appears as though the majority of the country's budget is now shifting in one direction.
“Let me advise those who are struggling to take everything in and remember that some of the issues we have in this region of the country today have to do with mismanagement of the little that comes in and a lack of sufficient resources.
We have poverty, insecurity, and other issues as a result. It mostly occurs here, but it would spread everywhere, like a desert.
“Yesterday, I was to come by air, but unfortunately, my airline decided to shift our takeoff from 3pm to 8pm. There, I had to drive. It was hell to travel from Abuja to Kaduna to Kano. Terrible. The road is awful. This is a road started many years ago, right from the beginning of the leadership of the APC.
“Now, we are told that there is a road from the South to the East. We support infrastructure everywhere in this country, as well as anything else that is beneficial to the general public. However, I do not believe that the government should take our resources and dump them in one region of the country while leaving other regions untouched.
