Nwifuru calls for an investigation after Killing of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogbji.

 

GOVERNOR FRANCIS NWIFURU


Governor Francis Nwifuru has condemned the killing of Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State and called for urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. 

 Recall no fewer than 13 Ebonyi State indigenes were, on Monday, killed by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government of Anambra State.

 According to what GLOBALGISTZNG learned, the criminals entered the area late on Monday night in two sport utility vehicles, attacked the people who were holding their monthly general meeting, and fired randomly into the air. 

Nwifuru in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, described the incident as a barbaric and seamless act of violence meted on law-abiding citizens of the state. The governor said in the statement, “This senseless act of violence against law-abiding citizens is not only barbaric but a direct assault on peace, unity, and the sanctity of human life. 

 “The fact that a group of Ebonyi people will be shot at close range while holding a peaceful meeting defies logic and reason. It is unacceptable, and I frown strongly at such heinous act in its entirety. 

Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, The excutive Gov. of Anambra State has been contacted by Governor Nwifuru. demanded that this tragic incident be investigated quickly, thoroughly, and openly.
