I Won’t Buy N150bn Jet When 80% Of Health Centres Aren’t Functioning – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, The former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for spending N150 billion on a jet when millions of Nigerians lack access to essential amenities.

During an interview on Sunday with Channels Television, Mr Obi stated that if elected, he would be a president who cared about his people and would not spend billions on aircraft because he would not require one. When asked about possible security implications that may arise if the President doesn’t have a jet, Obi dismissed such concerns, saying that as a governor of Anambra State, he never drove bullet proof cars. He said:

“If I become president I will use the resources effectively, I cannot buy a new jet,” Obi said on the program. “I don’t need one because you can go anywhere without a jet, I will never need one. When 80% of our primary health centers are not operating, I will not spend 150 billion on a jet. "When I was governor, I drove 406 for the first four years, but the rest of the time I didn't drive bulletproof cars.

Nobody will decide to kill you if you are doing the right thing, it’s when you do the wrong thing that you will fear about death. “People want to get up and see a president that cares, a president that shows compassion. “Today, we have a nation devoid of compassion; leadership devoid of compassion does not exist; this is a negative, and it is not beneficial to a nation.”
