A boat accident in the Shiroro area of Niger State has resulted in the declaration of a number of passengers who remain unidentified.
It was gathered that the ferry was carrying commodities and some traders to Kwata, Zumba Market of the state on Saturday when the incident happened.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed in a statement by Director of Information and Special Duties, Niger State Emergency Agency, Dr Ibrahim Hussaini.

According to Hussaini, the driver and a few passengers were rescued, with one of them being admitted to General Hospital Kuta and undergoing treatment right now.
He said: “NSEMA has received a report of a boat mishap incident which occurred on 26th July 2025, around 11:45 am when a boat loaded with commodities and an unspecified number of passengers heading to Kwata, Zumba Market, capsized along with its occupants.
"The number of casualties could not be confirmed at the time this report was completed." Hussaini went on to say that NSEMA desk officers, local divers, and volunteers are still carrying out search and rescue missions.
