Nigeria Deports 102 foreigners who have been found guilty of cybercrime and internet fraud.

After being found guilty and given sentences for cyber crime and online fraud in Nigeria, no fewer than 102 foreigners -including chinese  and Tunisian were sent back to their country.

During a sting operation, members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos apprehended 192 foreigners, including the deportees.

GLOBALGISTZNG reported that the EFCC started the deportation process on Friday, August 15, 2025. 51 foreigners with convictions were repatriated last Friday, and another 51 were deported on Thursday, making 102 in just seven days.

Dele Oyewale, a spokesperson for the EFCC, issued a statement to confirm the development and noted that the repatriation operation was carried out in conjunction with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

Reiterating that the commission would not permit Nigeria to become a haven for cybercriminals, Oyewale emphasized that more convicted foreign nationals would be deported in the coming days.

"The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Immigration Service have repatriated 51 additional foreign nationals convicted and sentenced for cybercrime and internet fraud," he stated.

There are one Tunisian and fifty Chinese among the repatriated foreigners. In the ongoing operation that began on Friday, August 15, 2025, this brings the total number of repatriated convicted foreign nationals to 102.

“The convicts are among the 192 foreign nationals arrested by the Commission in Lagos as a result of actionable information regarding the activities of one of Nigeria's largest foreign-led cybercrime syndicates.

"In the coming days, further deportations are scheduled." The EFCC maintained that it would continue to work with the appropriate authorities to eliminate foreign-led networks of cybercrime and protect Nigeria's cyberspace from fraudulent activities.
