Ondo students Protest against insecurity in state varsity, demands justice for victims.

The recurring killings of students at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, have been condemned by the National Association of Ondo State Students, who have urged the government and security agencies to act quickly.

Alade Tosin, the association's National President, and Agbeni Oluwatobi, its General Secretary, co-signed a statement on Saturday that referred to the recent violence as outright attacks on the academic stability, mental well-being, and future of university students.

GLOBALGISTZNG had earlier reported that the university witnessed protests on Saturday as students decried what they described as targeted killings by indigenes of Akungba town. One of the victims, identified as Joy Adeyemi from the Department of Human Kinetics, was reportedly killed on Tuesday by her boyfriend, who has since fled.

Her death came barely three weeks after the abduction and murder of two students, Andrel Okah and John Abba, whose suspected killers were arrested, although the alleged mastermind reportedly died in police custody.

The killings were condemned by NAOSS, and the organization urged the authorities not to cover up the incident. “These are not just crimes; they are atrocities committed with cold blood that cannot be ignored.

The statement read, "The blood of our students cries out for justice, and we shall not be silent." The association requested that authorities take the following actions: “Identify and prosecute all perpetrators involved in these heinous killings.

“Strengthen the security architecture within and around the university environment “Engage the host community leadership on the need to promote peaceful coexistence and protect students as part of their own community,” NAOSS stated.

While urging students to maintain their composure and observe the law, the student body urged the Ondo State Government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and management of AAUA to take decisive action.

Let it be known that NAOSS Global will continue to advocate for all Ondo State students' rights, safety, and welfare. The statement continued, "We will not relent until every student's life is treated with the dignity and protection it deserves."
