The Conference of Professionals in the People's Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has asked the party's national leadership to use the PDP Constitution to remove Chief Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from the party. Barr, the Protem National Coordinator of the CP-PDP, made the following statement on Sunday, following the group's weekly technical review meeting in Abuja: According to Obinna Nwachukwu, Wike's outspoken support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) harms the PDP and goes against the party's constitution.
He stated, "In direct violation of Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which prohibits members from aligning with other parties to undermine the PDP," the FCT Minister "has publicly aligned with the APC to pursue their victory in the 2026 FCT Council election and the 2027 Presidential election.
" Nwachukwu stressed that Wike, by his actions, has effectively relinquished his membership of the PDP and should no longer be recognized as a party member.
Chief Wike has declared support for the APC by publicly pledging allegiance to the party. He can no longer be considered a PDP member, "he added. He also accused Wike of persistently violating Section 58 of the PDP Constitution through his public attacks on the party and its leadership.
The CP-PDP urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to immediately invoke Sections 29(2)(b) and 59(1) to remove Wike from the party, stating that the PDP's unity and integrity would suffer if the party continued to tolerate his actions. Loyal party members are now annoyed by the delay in expelling Wike. Nwachukwu stated, "The NWC must take decisive action." In addition, the group reaffirmed its commitment to the PDP's unity and stability by directing all PDP professionals to cut political ties with Wike.
