An Israeli national has been successfully rescued from kidnappers, according to the Taraba State Police Command, the military, and local hunters. A statement issued to journalists in Jalingo on Friday by the Command Public Relations Officer, James Leshen, detailed how the rescue operation unfolded. Mr. Gil Itamar, an Israeli citizen, was said to have been kidnapped by armed criminals in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi road, according to Leshen. Itamar, a staff member of SCC Company, was kidnapped around 9:15 a.m., according to police reports, while being escorted by military personnel. Alhaji Saidu, a fellow SCC employee who raised the alarm, was confirmed to have promptly reported his abduction to law enforcement.

“The Divisional Police Officer of Takum quickly assembled a team of police officers, members of the 67 PMF, military personnel, and local hunters after receiving the distress call. “A coordinated search-and-rescue operation was launched, which resulted in a fierce gunfight with the kidnappers. The kidnappers were defeated by the security forces and forced to flee, giving up their hostage. According to the police, "Itamar was subsequently rescued at Kofai Ahmadu" and is currently undergoing medical evaluation at the medical facility of SCC Company in Takum.
The command emphasized that security forces have intensified their efforts to locate the fleeing criminals and have pledged to bring them to justice. Bretet Simon, the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command's dedication to preserving state law and order while praising the joint force's prompt and efficient response.
